September the
8th, 2012, a brand new mountain bike challenge made his appearance in
Riversdale in the Western Cape…The AL-2-HEZ Mountain Bike Challenge. Make sure
to mark this event on your calendar if you’re a cycler, because it’s one not to
be missed!
The routes
consist out of two tracks, 44km and 91km. I quote Wannabees Cycling Club:
"The road takes you through fynbos, cultivated forestry, ascending to a
climb of 1602m, overlooking the whole of Riversdale."
At the start the bike riders were very friendly when I took their photos, but nearer the end I caught them after a super long uphill and the breaths and smiles were almost gone! At the finishing point everybody looked like they just went for a Sunday stroll and were as fresh as can be! The main man in the organizing of this event, was Wedré Geldenhuys 072 226 0371, mbf@wispernet.co.za .
